This Week:
Environmental collapse

This week the decline in delta smelt and salmon populations that has been deepening during the last few years came to a head. The smelt appear to be on the verge of extinction, and the salmon do not appear to be far behind.

The destruction of the smelt and salmon is a direct product of our irresponsible growth, which has drained their rivers of the water they require for life. Our disregard for the natural limits of our environment has led the united states and the western US into the jaws of an impending water crisis and long-term drought of biblical porportions.

The problems in the western pacific are not isolated. Ocean systems are breaking down around the world.

A massive chunk of the wilkins ice shelf broke off as a direct consequence of global warming.

This event highlights scientific evidence pointing towards a steadily rising ocean, which portends constant coastal flooding for the next 100 years or so.

The chain reaction of ocean disasters is killing off the polar bears, and bush is helping to kill them off by delaying protected status until he protects his big oil sponsors alaskan oil fields.

Realise that the destruction of the Delta, the crisis in the oceans, and the plight of the polar bears is our fault. These global changes are the direct product of our irresponsible growth and consumption policies.

Despite the fact that the ecosystem is collapsing around us, our political and corporate leadership is pushing a policy of demographic growth that will have over 50 million people in california by 2050.

As long as we have these corporate tools running our government, we will continue to sacrifice the last bits of our environment to feed their endless desire for wealth and luxury.

Other News
Pakistan, despite our best efforts, has elected a parliment that is a clear and present danger to our dictator, Musharraf.

We sent our war criminal negroponte, and a crew of military and state officials to pakistan to threaten the new parliament into accepting the reign of our dictator. This effort was publically rejected, although the paki press reported that the public hostility covered private deals.

In the economic arena, hold on to your hats, because this thing is going down. Exports have failed to prop up the flailing domestic economy as the corporate media has been promising.

The Corruption Updates
There's a boat load of other examples of our government's political corruption and incompentence in the Corruption Updates published this week.
